Moorestown Boys, MFS Girls Basketball Teams Off To Quick Start

The Moorestown boys started the season 2-0, while the Moorestown Friends girls won their first three.

MOORESTOWN, NJ - Two high school basketball teams in Moorestown got off to undefeated starts in the 2018-19 season, according to box scores posted on nj.com.

The Moorestown High School boys basketball team opened the season with a 57-28 win over Delsea on Dec. 15. Nick Cartwright-Adams led the way with 14 points, followed by Jagger Zrada with 10 points. They outscored the Crusaders from 3-point range, 21-3.

Moorestown’s second game was a lot closer, as Kevin Muhic sank two free throws with about a minute left in the Quakers’ 58-56 win over Westampton Tech as the Quakers improved to 2-0. Cartwright-Atkins led Moorestown with 22 points, followed by Zrada with 13.

The Moorestown Friends girls basketball team is off to a 3-0 start. It opened the season with a 5-point win over East Brunswick, 56-51. Isabella Runyan led the way with 27 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and five steals. Veyoni Davis had 18 points, 11 rebounds, one assist and three steals in the win.

Up next was a 54-32 win over Moorestown on Monday night, Dec. 17. Runyan had 23 points, six rebounds, five assists, five steals and a blocked shot. Davis had 21 points, three rebounds and a steal.

In its most recent win, Moorestown Friends downed Cinnaminson, 57-47 to improve to 3-0. Davis led the way with 24 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Runyan had 17 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, six steals and five blocked shots.

The Moorestown High School girls picked up their first win of the season on Thursday night, Dec. 20, defeating Delran, 35-23, according to nj.com. Grace Hill and Kallie Hiller each had 10 points in the win for Moorestown, who is now 1-2.

In its only game of the season so far, the Moorestown Friends boys basketball team dropped a 53-22 decision to Delran, according to nj.com.
