Moorestown Fills Tractor Trailer To Help Hurricane Irma Victims

The Tractor Trailer Challenge took place in Moorestown over the weekend.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — You did it, Moorestown. The DiPasquale Family asked for help filling a 53-foot tractor trailer — donated by McCollister's Transportation Group, Inc., of Burlington Township — to help hurricane victims.

“And residents, businesses, organizations, and schools all came together to meet that challenge,” Nancy DiPasquale said in an email Monday morning. “Some of them brought donations from themselves, and some from their neighbors. Others held collections on their own, and then delivered them. There were those who spent weeks working to put this event together, and there were volunteers who gave up their weekend to make it happen. There were even some who offered a 53-foot tractor-trailer and transportation to Florida. And all of Moorestown did it TOGETHER and for complete strangers in their desperate time of need.”

The tractor trailer was parked at the Wesley Bishop Fields on North Church Street over the weekend, and staffed by a volunteer group of children, ages 12-13. At the conclusion of the drive, the truck was driven to Florida, where the donations were to be made directly to the SOS Foundation, an organization in the Keys. The Keys was the hardest hit area by Hurricane Irma.
