Moorestown FOP Donates $1K Check To Virtua Samson Cancer Center

The money was raised during the Moorestown Police Department's No Shave November efforts last year.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Moorestown police officers who went without shaving last November have helped make the new Virtua Samson Cancer Center in Moorestown $1,000 richer.

Members of Moorestown FOP Lodge #109 presented a $1,000 donation check to the center, located at 350 Young Avenue in Moorestown, on Wednesday morning, ahead of this year’s No Shave November fundraiser.

The goal of No-Shave November is to grow awareness by embracing hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting facial hair grow for the month of November.

Moorestown police officers participate with the approval of Chief Lee Lieber, growing neatly trimmed facial hair to help spark conversations about men’s health issues.

Money the officers would typically spend on shaving and grooming will be donated in an effort to educate others about cancer prevention and to aid those fighting the battle. Each dollar raised by the Moorestown police officers is matched by the Moorestown FOP, up to $500 total.
