Moorestown High School Basketball Teams Advance in Playoffs

The boys and girls teams each advanced Monday night.

Both Moorestown High School basketball teams remained alive in their pursuit of championships Monday night.

The Moorestown High School boys basketball team, seeded sixth in the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 3, defeated No. 11 Brick Township, 70-56, in the first round.

Dan Dyer scored a game-high 21 points, including three, three-pointers. Ryan McCarthy had 14 points and Dil Alston had 10.

The game was tied at 8-8 after one quarter, and Brick held a 26-25 lead at halftime. The Quakers used a 25-12 third quarter to seize the lead and sail to victory.

Moorestown will visit No. 3 Northern Burlington in the quarterfinals on Wednesday night, 5:15 p.m.

The sixth-seeded Moorestown High School girls basketball team had an easier time in its 43-27 victory over No. 11 Pennsauken.

Faith Bonnet had a game-high 13 points for the Quakers, followed by Jessie Britton, who had 10.

Moorestown will visit No. 3 Neptune in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, 5 p.m.
