Moorestown High School Senior Dedicated To Community Earns Scholarship

Kieran Fallows participated in a number of community service activities, including "Soup for the Soul."

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Kiernan Fallows is ending her career at Moorestown High School with high recognition. The soon-to-be high school graduate is the recipient of the $1,000 Ellen Shiplee Scholarship, the Moorestown Improvement Association announced. She was selected as this year’s scholarship recipient because of her contributions to improving the greater Moorestown community.

Fallows will graduate on Thursday, June 22. She will be attending the University of Delaware in the fall, where she plans to major in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. Eventually, Fallows hopes to open her own vet practice, specializing in the care of large animals like horses.

In high school, Fallows was involved in a variety of school and community service activities, including softball, volunteering with various 4-H clubs, interscholastic equestrian riding and participating in the Appalachian Service Project.

She was also the chairperson of the annual “Soup for the Soul” event of the Interact Club. “Soup for the Soul” benefits Philabundance, which serve 90,000 people a week in five counties in Pennsylvania and four in New Jersey. Many of those served are children and seniors, and all are families in need, although not necessarily homeless. Fallows contacted local restaurants to explain the fundraiser and solicit their donations and assistance.

“I do it because I love to help others,” Fallows said of her volunteering efforts. “Giving back has become a huge part of my life, and I love to see the results of the work that I do in my community near and far.”
