Moorestown High School Senior Earns Dunkin' Donuts Scholarship

Katherine Holmbeck will attend Bucknell University this fall, and plans to attend medical school in the future.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — A graduating senior from Moorestown High School has received a scholarship as part of the ninth annual Dunkin’ Donuts Philadelphia Regional Scholarship Program.

Katherine Holmbeck recently graduated from Moorestown High School, and will pursue a degree in Neuroscience at Bucknell University beginning this fall. She intends to attend medical school in the future.

Holmbeck was among the 25 students selected from more than 1,700 applicants to receive a $2,000 academic scholarship to an accredited two-or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school of their choice.

Applicants came from South Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania, as well as Kent and New Castle counties in Delaware. The scholarships were awarded by Dunkin’ Donuts of Philadelphia and Scholarship America.


She was selected based on her academic record, demonstrated leadership skills, and overall commitment to her school and the Moorestown community.


At Moorestown High School, she was captain of the varsity cross country team. She was also a member of the music program at both her high school and church.


In her free time, Holmbeck volunteers with various organizations such as the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey, Appalachia Service Project, and MooreKids.


She will be honored during an awards ceremony on Saturday night, July 21, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester. Honorees and their families will also be invited to attend the Major League Soccer game between the Philadelphia Union and the Los Angeles Galaxy right after the ceremony.


“On behalf of Dunkin’ Donuts and our greater Philadelphia-area franchisees, I would like to congratulate the 2018 Dunkin’ Donuts Regional Scholarship winners,” said Perry Shah, local Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee and Philadelphia regional advertising committee chairman. “Nine years ago, this scholarship program was created to help support students in our local communities. Today, we are proud to have awarded a total of $350,000 to deserving students throughout the region to help ease the financial burden of college. We wish each recipient continued success in their academic careers.”
