Moorestown To Honor Resident Doug Pederson, Super Bowl Champion

The coach of the Super Bowl winning Philadelphia Eagles will be honored with a brief ceremony.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Moorestown will honor one of its own for bringing a world championship to Philadelphia. Eagles coach Doug Pederson, a Moorestown resident, will be honored with a brief ceremony on the front lawn of the Moorestown Community House on Saturday, Feb. 24, 10 a.m., rain or shine. The Moorestown Community House is located at 16 East Main Street.

Moorestown Council will present Pederson with a proclamation for his coaching victory in Super Bowl LII, officials announced. No Eagles players are expected to attend.

Pederson was born in Bellingham, Washington, and played college football at Northeast Louisiana University, now known as the University of Louisiana at Monroe. He has also coached with the the Dolphins, the Packers and the Browns. He is in his second year as the Eagles head coach, and previously served as an assistant to Andy Reid in Philadelphia and Kansas City.

After going 7-9 in his first year in 2016 and finishing last in the NFC East, the Eagles went from last place in the division to the top of the world. They went 13-3, won the division title and secured home field advantage throughout the playoffs. They won every playoff game as an underdog despite being the No. 1 seed, and topped it all off by defeating the New England Patriots, 41-33,to win the team's first ever Lombardi Trophy.

There will be no parking permitted in the Community House parking lot for this event, according to the Moorestown Police Department. Public parking in the area is expected to be limited. Drivers should use caution in the area, and watch for pedestrians.
