Moorestown Police Car Struck, Totaled During Response To Deadly Crash

Moorestown officers were among the agencies on-scene after a pedestrian was struck and killed in Maple Shade, officials said.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — A Moorestown police car was struck and totaled as officers worked a deadly crash scene Monday in Maple Shade.

Moorestown police were among the agencies that responded after a vehicle fatally struck a pedestrian Monday night on Route 73, officials said. At the scene, another vehicle hit a Moorestown patrol car.

The Moorestown officer and his K-9 were unharmed.

Donations to replace the vehicle are not required, according to the township, which is fully insured for the replacement cost of the damaged car and K-9 equipment.

Pennsauken Township is loaning Moorestown a police vehicle with K-9 equipment in the interim.

A person was struck Monday night while crossing Route 73 in Maple Shade, according to Fox 29 Philadelphia. The victim has not been publicly identified.

The driver stayed at the scene, Fox 29 reports. No charges have been announced as of Wednesday.
