NAMI Burlington Offers Mental Health Support Amid Pandemic

NAMI Burlington, based in Moorestown, continues to offer support online to help residents maintain strong mental health amid the pandemic.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — The local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) continues to offer support online to help residents maintain their mental health amid the coronavirus pandemic.

NAMI envisions a world where all people affected by mental illness live healthy, fulfilling lives supported by a community that cares, according to its website. It provides advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives.

NAMI Burlington County’s headquarters are set up at the Moorestown Community House, 16 East Main Street, Suite 5. It has support group meetings every Monday, and they are all currently being held via Zoom.

Peer-to-peer support group meetings take place on the first and third Mondays of each month, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. They are usually held at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly, but are currently taking place via Zoom.

Family support group meetings take place on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at the First Presbyterian Church, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. These meetings are currently being held via Zoom.

The NAMI AACT-Now Family Support Group is held for African American family members on the third Tuesday of each month, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Alpha Baptist Church in Willingboro.

NAMI Basics is a 6-session education program for parents, caregivers and other family who provide care for youth (ages 22 and younger) who are experiencing mental health symptoms.namibasicsburlingtoncountynj@gmail.com.

NAMI New Jersey held its first virtual Walk: NAMIWalks Your Way on Sept. 26. NAMI Burlington County walked at Strawbridge Lake in Moorestown the same day in support of “Mental Health For All!”
