Olympic Gold Medalist From Moorestown Up For Another Award
The U.S. women's eight rowing team is a finalist for the Olympic Team of the Year award.

Moorestown, NJ -- Moorestown native Lauren Schmetterling and her teammates on the Olympic gold medal winning women’s eight rowing team are in contention for another award.
The team is one of five who are competing for the title of Team of the Olympic Games at this year’s Team USA Awards, a ceremony that recognizes the outstanding achievements of Team USA athletes year-round.
The team is competing against the women’s basketball, women’s gymnastics, women’s 400-meter relay and women’s water polo teams. The winner will be determined by fan voting, at TeamUSA.org/Awards.

Schmetterling was part of the U.S. women's eight team that won a third consecutive Gold Medal at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Schmetterling joined coxswain Katelin Snyder, 2008 and 2012 Olympian Eleanor Logan, Amanda Elmore, Tessa Gobbo, 2012 Olympian Meghan Musnicki, Emily Regan, Amanda Polk and Kerry Simmonds in the win.
