Pair of Moorestown Wrestlers Capture District Crowns

Max Rohan won the 120-pound title and Tyreek Smith captured the 220-pound championship at the District 26 tournament at Holy Cross.

Six Moorestown High School wrestlers are on their way to the regional tournament, including a pair of district champions, according to nj.com.

Max Rohan won the 120-pound title and Tyreek Smith captured the 220-pound championship at the District 26 tournament at Holy Cross over the weekend.

The top three competitors in each weight class advanced to the Region 7 tournament, which begins in Robbinsville on Tuesday, 5:30 p.m.

Rohan captured the district title with a major decision victory over Delran’s Dylan Wagner. Rohan pinned Burlington Township’s Kyle Lienheiser in the semifinals. He pinned Burlington City’s Ayush Mohan in the quarterfinals.

Smith won the 220-pound title with a sudden victory over Cinnaminson’s Tom Halecki. Smith advanced to the final with a pinfall victory over Burlington Township’s Zachary Hobson in the semifinals.

Anthony Williamson finished second at 170 pounds. He fell to Holy Cross’s Kenny Long by major decision in the final. Williamson advanced to the final with a major decision victory over Riverside’s Zeke Brinson in the semifinals.

Christopher Tenenbaum finished third at 106 with a 5-4 win over Burlington Township’s Alexander LoPrinzi in the consolation round. Tenenbaum fell in the semifinals to Holy Cross’s Connor Mullarkey, 13-7, after he defeated Cinnaminson’s Kyle Schoch, 11-7, in the quarterfinals.

John Menendez defeated Burlington Township’s Logan Amey, 6-3, to finish third at 152. Menendez fell to Delran’s Michael Boyd, 2-1, in the semifinals after scoring a technical fall over Westampton Tech’s Evan Chagnon in the quarterfinals.

Heavyweight Zach Moore advanced by finishing third with a sudden victory over Riverside’s Tanner Clifford. Moore dropped a 1-0 decision to Cinnaminson’s Keith Swartley in the semifinals.
