Perkins Center for the Arts, Collingswood will hold its 7th Annual Empty Bowls Project Saturday, December 2nd from 12 pm to 3 pm. Every dollar raised is divided evenly between the Food Bank of South Jersey and the Perkins Center for the Arts Scholarship Fund to support the fight against hunger and to further arts education.

Led by the efforts of Paul Serena, Pottery Studio Manager, more than 650 bowls of all shapes, sizes and colors have been created by artists for this year’s event. For months the ceramics studio has been busy with artists who have volunteered to form, trim, decorate and fire the bowls in preparation for the event.
Attendees are invited to browse hundreds of colorful handmade bowls. In exchange for a minimum donation of $15, attendees are invited to sample cuisine donated by prominent area restaurants. A bowl is given as a thank you that serves as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world.
Help us reach our $10,000 goal to help fight hunger in our community while also enabling individuals of limited financial means to experience the arts. The first six years resulted in over $40,000 raised for the two funds and a goal of $10,000 has been set for the 2017 event.

“Empty Bowls is a timely reminder that good people working together can effect positive change and impact lives,” said Karen Chigounis, Executive Director. “Last year, Perkins Center for the Arts donated $5,300 to the Food Bank of South Jersey and provided $5,300 in scholarship for classes in our centers. I could not be prouder of this program, of our volunteers and supporters, and of our contribution to the communities where we live and work.”
