Downed Wires Close Road As Storm Cleanup Continues In Moorestown

Many trees and tree limbs were brought down by heavy wet snow and ice.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Route 38 is closed westbound at Nixon Drive and eastbound at South Lenola Road due to wires down across the road, Moorestown Police said on Tuesday.

Drivers should consider using Kings Highway as an alternate route. Police and fire are on the scene assisting with traffic.

PSE&G and the New Jersey Department of Transportation have been notified. Drivers should use caution if they must drive in the area.

Winds were high on Tuesday, related to a storm that hit New Jersey. A Winter Storm Warning remained in effect until 6 p.m.

In Moorestown, Public Works employees were diligently plowing the main thoroughfares and continued to work their way to the secondary roadways.

In addition to the downed wires on Route 38, many downed trees and tree limbs were reported in the township on Tuesday. They are the result of heavy wet snow and ice, police said.

"We ask the residents to be careful and patient while our crews clear the roadways of snow, ice and tree limbs," police said. "Public Works will resume its normal brush pickup schedule after they complete their snow storm efforts."
