Township to Hold Memorial Day Ceremony

Moorestown Township’s annual Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. May 30 at the .

The ceremony will begin with a musical prelude by the Band. Boy Scout Tropp 44 will post the colors, which will be followed by the National Anthem, performed by the MHS Band, and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Cub Scout Pack 44.

Jonathan Miller of the will offer the invocation.

Councilmembers Stacey Jordan and Chris Chiacchio will give opening remarks, followed by Sen. Diane Allen (R-7), who, after legislative redistricting, will represent Moorestown.

Other guests include former resident Judith Young, mother of Jeff Young, who was killed at age 22 on Oct. 23, 1983, while serving in Beirut as a Marine Corps sergeant. She is also past president of American Gold Star Mothers, an organization of mothers who have lost a son or daughter in the service of our country.

The program’s main speaker will be Chaplain Lt. Col. Christopher L. Miller ANG, 108th Wing Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

The speakers will be followed by Roll Call and Remembrance by Young and Allen. Members of the Moorestown Community Girl Scouts will place flowers on the memorial.

Roll Call will be followed by a military salute byAmerican Legion and Taps performed by the MHS Band.

Father Jim O’Neill of will give the benediction followed by Carla McIlmail, who will perform "My Country 'Tis of Thee" and "God Bless America."
