2 Moorestown High School Wrestlers Still Alive for Regional Titles

The Region 7 tournament began at Holy Cross Wednesday night.

Two Moorestown High School wrestlers continue their quest for a regional title Friday night.

The District 7 tournament began Wednesday night at Holy Cross, with the pre-quarterfinal round. The quarterfinals are set for Friday night, with the semifinals and final scheduled for Saturday.

The wrestleback rounds also take place on Saturday, giving any wrestler who loses in the quarterfinals or the semifinals the opportunity to earn a third-place finish. The top three wrestlers in each weight class advance to the state championships at Atlantic City on March 4-6.

Fourth-seeded Max Rohan advanced at 120 when he pinned No. 13 Kevin Schoch, of Cinnaminson, in one minute, 58 seconds, in the pre-quarterfinal round, according to nj.com.

Rohan will face No. 5 Joe Downing, of Collingswood, in the quarterfinals on Friday.

No. 4 Will Corbi received a pre-quarterfinal round bye at 126. He will face No. 5 Verlensky Joachim, of Bordentown, in the quarterfinals on Friday. Joachim advanced with a 4-3 win over No. 12 Alex Velez, of Cherry Hill East, on Wednesday.

Nate Dalmass’s season came to an end with a 4-3 loss to No. 9 Anthony Lattera, of Robbinsville, at 170. Dalmass was the No. 8 seed.
