WAMS Track Team Finishes Season Undefeated

The William Allen Middle School track team finished its regular season undefeated with a 12-0 record. It is the first undefeated season in recent history, according to coach Dirck McDowell and it is quite an achievement.  

The runners, throwers and jumpers did not stop there. On May 13, the Quakers beat out 15 other teams to win the Moorestown Relays, the first time Moorestown has won the trophy.

Gold medal winners included Nate Guevara and Nick Venti in boys' discus and shot put, Fatimah Anderson and Kiana Malta in girls discus', Caitlyn Todd and Heather Warren in girls' high jump.  Other first-place finishes – the 4-by-800-meter relay team of Kristen Hynoski, Heather Warren, Quinn Smith and Jared Payne; the distance medley team of Geneveive Cickavage, Natalie Cooper, Harrison Morris and Enrique Arvelo – sealed the Quaker victory.

On May 16, tehe team placed 2nd in the South Jersey Individual Track Championships in Pennsauken. Individual medals were won by Heather Warren in the girls' high jump and Enrique Arvelo, who medaled in the 1600- and 800-meter races. Second-place ribbons went to Harrison Morris in the 1600, Nate Guevara in boys' discus, and Maia Mirchandani in girls' high jump.

The team is coached by McDowell, Lauren Scibal and Mike Berner.
