Local Resident Wins Toastmasters Logo Contest

Michelle "Glod” Feingold (of Morris Plains) recently won the District 83 Toastmasters 2013 Spring Logo Contest.  Her design was selected from a dozen submitted logos.    The winning logo will be used on all promotional and conference material for the District 83 Spring Conference scheduled for May 18 – 19, 2013 in Newark, New Jersey.  Visit http://www.toastmasters83.org to view the winning logo.

The design of the logo included the requirement that it "must reflect an International, Multi-Cultural theme of unity through the use of our voices".  Michelle’s logo used different shapes and colors to address the multi-cultural theme. Michelle stated, “I wanted to create a logo that showed how the world-wide voices of Toastmasters interact to create unity and knowledge transfer among members.”

Michelle is a Senior Graphic Designer at ScienceFirst, LLC in Cedar Knolls, NJ.  She develops brand-specific artwork for medical education, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology companies. Michelle has over 10 years experience in branding, design, and the arts. She is on the Board of Trustees, and is Membership Co-Chair, for the Art Directors Club of New Jersey (ADCNJ). Michelle has been a member of Toastmasters since November 2012 and she recently became the Vice President of Public Relations for the South Street Toastmasters club.  Michelle has her BS from Union College (Schenectady, NY) and her MFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design (Savannah, GA).

Michelle stated that she joined South Street Toastmasters to help advance her career.  She noted, “As a graphic designer, I usually can hide behind my computer. However, my boss presented me with a wonderful opportunity, to be more client-facing. I expressed my nervousness to a co-worker and she encouraged me to check out Toastmasters. Since joining South Street Toastmasters, I have found the confidence to use my voice not only at work, but also by contributing to the professional organization for creatives, the ADCNJ.”
