Area Residents Receive Achievement Awards from Non-Profit

Local non-profits recognizes program participants with special needs for their achievements - perfect holiday story!

On Thursday, December 11, Employment Horizons held its annual holiday party for program participants. The Cedar Knolls non-profit, which provides comprehensive employment, training and job placement services to persons with disabilities and other disadvantages, recognized three program participants for their outstanding work throughout the year. Recipients were Michael Vacca (Randolph), Edgar Perez (Dover), and James Tilghman (Irvington).

Michael Vacca, the recipient of the Anthony Pennucci Award, came to Employment Horizons in 2012 while a student. He works both in the agency’s fulfillment center as well as the maintenance department. Vacca works independently, has great attention to detail, and comes to work each day with a smile. He earned the award for his dependability and flexibility in work. Edgar Perez, received the Olga Geraghty Memorial Award for most improved. Perez has been with Employment Horizons for nearly 15 years. In that time, he has shown great improvement in work skills and has been able to take on increased responsibilities to assist his supervisors and co-workers. He brings a positive attitude and great energy to every task assigned to him. James Tilghman was awarded the Mary Jones Humanitarian Award for his kindness and helpfulness. Tilghman has a friendly smile, fantastic laugh, and is quick to introduce himself to new co-workers. He is always willing to help others and tries to cheer up those that are sad or having a bad day. If anyone needs a smile, they can find James!

Employment Horizons applauds these gentlemen on their accomplishments.
