Detours, Delays Expected During Spring Valley Road Construction

Major roadway connecting Morris Township and Harding to be resurfaced with end date on or around Sept. 12.

Milling, paving and striping have begun on more than a mile of roadway between Morris Township and Harding as part of Morris County’s expanded road resurfacing program.

Spring Valley Road, from South Street in Morris Township to Green Village Road in Harding, is currently under construction and is scheduled for completion on or around Sept. 12, weather pending, according to the county. The stretch of roadway is 1.56-miles long.

Delays are expected as detours are being established in the area. Traffic flow on the county roadway is being administered by Morris Township and Harding police departments.

Morris County’s capital budget for road resurfacing in 2014 allows for construction on some 33 miles of roadways in the area, up from the 22 miles that were paved last year. Morris County maintains about 300 miles of roadways.
