Five Reasons to Visit the 'Jersey Rocks' Exhibit
Morris Museum chronicles the history of Rock & Roll in the Garden State.
The has opened a large exhibition tracing the history of rock music in New Jersey from the 1950s to today. Jersey Rocks: A History of Rock & Roll in the Garden State will be on view through September 14. Here are five good reasons to go:
- Go Because of the Memorabilia: See objects like records, stage clothing, instruments and photographs from performers like Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Gloria Gaynor, Queen Latifah, Whitney Houston, the Smithereens, Blondie, Joey Dee and the Starliters, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, Dionne Warwick, the Shirelles, Connie Francis, Lesley Gore, The Angels, The Delicates, the Happenings, the Critters, the Duprees and Ricky Nelson.
- Go To See Cousin Brucie: The famed radio disc jockey will give a talk called, "Rock & Roll….And the Beat Goes On," along with signing copies of his book on Thursday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $20, $15 for members.
- Go Because of the Discount Pass: The Jersey Rocks summer pass, at $175, includes a LaBamba concert, all lectures, both acapella concerts and complimentary exhibition pass (general museum admission) valid for 4 months; May 5 through September 5, 2011. The pass is only $150 for museum members.
- Go For The LaBamba and the Hubcaps concert with Quiet Storm: One of New Jersey’s most successful bar bands will get you dancing on June 3 at 7:30 p.m.. The opening act is the Philadelphia acapella group Quiet Storm. $45 includes light refreshments.
- Go For the Acapella Scat and Doo-Wop Concert: Performers include Sammy and the Del-Larks, Quiet Storm, Joe Z, and Bobby Thomas’s Tribute to the Orioles. Friday, July 29 at 7:00 p.m. $20 for members, $25 non-members.
