Five Things You Need to Know About Morris Twp.

New Firefighters, both paid and volunteer come on board.

Two firefighters were appointed by council and four volunteers were accepted at the last council meeting of the year.

1) Appointed as paid firemen:

Steven Cornine (Firefighter Class 2) at an annual salary of $44,117, and Joseph Ragucci (Firefighter Class 1) at an annual salary of $92,730.

2) Accepted as volunteers:

Evan G. Garcia, Hillside Hose; Timothy Meyer, Mt. Kemble Company; Kyle Meyer, Mt. Kemble Company, and Kyle Pollara, Woodland Hook and Ladder Company.

3) Road work contracts:

Council contracted for engineering and design services for improvements to Normandy Heights Road to T&M Consulting Engineers, Inc., at a cost not to exceed $23,788. Council contracted for engineering and design services for improvements to Valley View Road to Suburban Consulting Engineering, at a cost not to exceed $22,555. Council contracted for surveying and engineering design services for improvements to Mill Road to Pennoni Associates at a cost not to exceed $23,750.

4)  Saving money on services

A contract with Reynwood Communications for voice over IP telephone and internet services for a period of five years at a cost not to exceed $450,000, a savings of 15 percent over the last contract, Mayor H. Scott Rosenbush said.

5) Mailboxes

Council adopted an ordinance providing for reimbursement to homeowners whose mailboxes are damaged or destroyed by township snowplows.
