5 Things About Helping Your Shy Kid

Morris Plains is offering a series of classes to help kids with social skills

Called PEERamid, social skills sessions are led in Morris Plains by teachers Siobhan Cassidy and Lorey Canning with trained mentors from grades three through five.

1) When and where: Mondays, Feb. 27 and March 8, 12, 19 and 26 from 3:15 to 4 p. in the Library at a cost of $60 for all five sessons.

2) Children are helped who have trouble making or keeping friends, have trouble acting appropriately in social situations, have difficulty with conversations

3) or who are impulsive or make poor decisions, act shy or just need a confidence boost.

4) It teaches a variety of social skills each week to help children improve their ability to make and keep friends, develop more self-confidence and behave more appropriately.

5) and uses role playing and group interaction.
