Jr. Colonials Varsity Football Squad Wins Home Opener

Morristown Junior Colonials avenge previous club losses with a late afternoon 19-8 win over the Long Valley Raiders at Cornine Field Sunday.

After the Super Pee Wee, Pre-Clinic and Clinic Maroon Junior Colonials football squads suffered tough losses to Long Valley teams on Saturday, the three remaining Junior Colonials squads (Pee Wee, J.V., and Varsity) were hoping to even things up on Sunday.

The Pee Wee Squad lost 13-0 to the Long Valley Raiders, but there were a lot of pads popping in this contest. In the second game, the Colonial J.V. squad worked hard but got beat on some tough plays and did not score. Shaking off these first game losses and getting in a full week of practice can make a big difference in this week's game.

In the final game, the Junior Colonial's Varsity was determined to set things right. It was a defensive battle, with the Colonials grinding out a 19-8 victory over the Long Valley Raiders. The team stepped up and was able to give the Junior Colonials Cheerleaders and the home crowd something to cheer about.
