Jason Kohn, a 17-year veteran of the Morris Plains Police Department was promoted to sergeant at the township reorganization meeting.
Kohn started on the force as a dispatcher in 1994. He then moved up to patrolman and was eventually assigned to the detective bureau. He will now run the bureau, replacing Ed Dobbins who retired.
Kohn thanked the mayor and council and Chief Scott Thompson for the promotion. He was joined at his swearing in by his wife, Maggie, daughters Healey, 6, and Madelyn, 4, and by his mother, father and step-mother.
