UPtown Penalized for Serving Alcohol to Minor
Morris Township committee suspends liquor license for currently-closed business.

A Morris Township liquor license held by the former will become a “pocket” license while it is suspended for 30 days.
The township committee held a hearing Thursday on a charge of serving an alcoholic beverage to a minor against the business, which closed last month . Robert C. Williams represented the license holder.
Williams said he reviewed the police report and his client would enter a plea of no contest.

John M. Iaciofano, of Iaciofano, Fiamingo and Perrone of Morristown, represented the township. He offered a 30-day license suspension to which Williams agreed.
Williams explained there are special circumstances in the form of a change in corporate structure. The license will be held by a secured party after the members of the limited liability corporation currently holding it have surrendered it, he said.

The suspension began immediately. Iacociofano said when and if UPtown's business can resume or a transfer of the license is proposed, an application will be made for either a place-to-place or person-to-person transfer. He said there is no practical alternative to running the suspension while the license is "pocketed."
