Lock Your Car: Thieves on the Loose

Morris Township Police responded to six reports of cars being entered in one night.

If you've let down your guard about locking your car overnight, now is the time to reconsider.

According to Captain Richard Ferrone of the , there were multiple reports of thefts from parked cars on May 16 and 17. Among the items reported stolen were GPS equipment, credit cards, and a wallet.

Six incidents, which involved vehicles that were left unlocked, are believed to have happened from the evening of May 16 into the morning of May 17. Ferrone did not reveal the addresses where the alleged crimes occurred, saying only that they took place "on the western side of Morris Township."

According to Ferrone's statement, "The Morris Township Police Department reminds residents to always lock your vehicles, even if they are parked in your driveway, and never leave valuables in sight. Vehicles are generally targeted for portable navigation units, IPods, and change."
