Morris Plains Man Sentenced to 3 Years For Shoplifting

He pleaded guilty to three counts for February incidents.

Daniel W. Dehaven, Jr., 25, of Morris Plains, was sentenced to three years in state prison for shoplifting at a Wal-Mart in Hampton Township, according to the Sussex County Prosecutor's Office.

In addition to the prison sentence, Dehaven was ordered to pay $280.00 in fines and $1,968.97 in restitution, plus perform 10 days of community service. Sentencing was conducted by the Honorable N. Peter Conforti, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on May 6.

In March, Dehaven pled guilty to three counts of third-degree shoplifting. He admitted that he and his co-defendant, Anthony Bellina, 25, of Lake Hopatcong, shoplifted on Feb. 1. at the Hampton Township Wal-Mart. Dehaven said he returned to the same store one week later, on Feb. 8, and shoplifted again. On Feb. 17, both men returned to Wal-Mart, where they were apprehended as they tried to leave the store with shoplifted merchandise.
