Morris Township Participates in Jersey Cares Annual Coat Drive

Residents are asked to donate gently used winter coats for men, women and children in need.

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ – Morris Township residents are asked to donate gently used winter coats for men, women and children for the Jersey Cares Annual Coat Drive from Nov. 1 to Dec. 7 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

This is the third year the Morris Township Department of Parks & Recreation will participate in the coat drive. In 2015, over 100 coats were collected at the Municipal Building.

Residents or local organizations can drop their donations off at a collection box in the lobby of the Morris Township Municipal Building.

Jersey Cares expects to collect and distribute more than 30,000 gently used winter coats to people in need throughout New Jersey. 2016 marks the 21st year of the coat drive – over 450,000 coats have been donated so far.

Collection bins are set up at different companies, churches, fire departments, police stations, schools and other spots across New Jersey. Collection site representatives then deliver these coats to the nearest container site. Volunteers bag the coats for pick-up, and nonprofit organizations then distribute them to people in need.
