Morristown Honors Assumption School's Blue Ribbon Achievement

Mayor Tim Dougherty presents proclamation to private Catholic school for national excellence.

First, Assumption School in Morristown was recognized nationally. Now it has been recognized by its local officials.

Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty recently presented the school with a proclamation recognizing the school’s recent designation as a National Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education.

Out of 287 public and 50 private schools nationwide, 11 New Jersey schools received the award, including Assumption School.

Assumption’s student achievement in English and Mathematics was among highest in the country – top 15-percent – as measured by state and national assessments and tests.

ā€œI am very proud to honor the Assumption School for receiving such a distinguished award,ā€ said Dougherty in a statement. ā€œNational Blue Ribbon Schools represent a standard of educational excellence and having this new title only further demonstrates their work towards the goal of preparing our youth for academic achievement.ā€

Assumption School is a Catholic institution located on Macculloch Avenue, staffed by Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth and certified faculty. It was established in 1850.
