Morristown Senior Named National Achievement Scholarship Semifinalist

Jonathan Aloba will be notified in January if he's qualified for finalist status.

Senior year for Jonathan Aloba, a twelfth grader at Morristown High School, just got a whole lot more interesting.

Aloba was named a semifinalist in the 2015 National Achievement Scholarship Program, which saw more than 160,000 high school juniors request consideration last year for the 2015 award.

There will be approximately 800 Achievement Scholarships awarded in the total amount of $2.5 million next spring.

Aloba and Morristown High School have had to submit a detailed scholarship application providing the student’s academic record, participating in the school and its community activities, leadership abilities, employment, and academic awards received.

Of the 1,600 semifinalists, about 1,300 are expected to continue to the finalist phase of the competition, and will be notified in January.
