Your Guide to Tuesday's Primary Elections.

Local races uncontested, but legislative seats up for grabs.

The 2011 primary elections take place on Tuesday, June 7, but there isn't any mystery about the outcome of our local balloting in Morris Township and Morris Plains.

In each race, two seats are open. And in each race, no more than two people are running for each party's nomination:

In Morris Plains, running for the Republican nomination for two open council seats:

  2. Mary Marley-Reidy

In other races, there should be more suspense.

State Senator Anthony M. Bucco will be challenged in the Republian primary for his seat representing the 25th legislative district by William J. Chegwidden (currently director of the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders) of Wharton. The only Democrat listed as running for his party's nomination to the state Senate seat is Rick Thoeni of Denville.

Senator Anthony M. Bucco's son, also Republican and also named Anthony Bucco, will seek to return to his state Assembly seat, as will fellow incumbent Republican Michael Patrick Carroll. That Republican primary will also be a contest, with John G. Sierchio of Boonton Township in the running. George Tannous of Succasunna has withdrawn from the race.

In the Democratic primary for the Assembly seat, George Stafford and Gale Heiss Colucci are running. The district, though recently reconfigured (among the changes is the inclusion of Washington Township, formerly in the 24th district), is traditionally considered strong Republican territory.

At the county level, Freeholder  is running against William 'Hank' Lyon on the Republican side. Truscha Quatrone is running uncontested for as Freeholder for the Democrats.
