Residents Urged to Stay Away From Downed Utility Lines

Many downed wires have not yet been disconnected.

Morris Plains residents are being urged to keep their distance from all utility wires on the ground or tangled in trees, according to a Nixel alert released by the Morris Plains Police Department on Sunday.

According to the alert, many of the downed wires have not yet been disconnected by JCP&L and are still energized, even if they aren’t burning or arcing.

Handling these wires could potentially result in serious injury or death.
