Rubin Seeks Support for Eagle Scout Project
Area Eagle Scout Candidate, Daniel Rubin, is seeking support for his Eagle Scout Project, which will beautify Employment Horizons.
Eagle Scout Candidate, Daniel Rubin, of Troop 155, has submitted plans to the Patriots’ Path Council for approval to assist Employment Horizons in making the Ridgedale Avenue front yard more aesthetically pleasing to motorists and pedestrians by planting shrubs and a perennial garden around the pedestal sign identifying the Employment Horizons name. Daniel met with Executive Director Jurate Fiory and Director of Community Relations, Maria Florio to obtain the agency’s approval for his project which has now been submitted to the local council of the Boy Scouts of America. Daniel, a sophomore at Whippany Park High School chose Employment Horizons as the beneficiary of his project after learning about the organization’s mission. “I believe in the mission of Employment Horizons and wanted to find a way that I could help them enhance their property to make it as welcoming on the outside as it is on the inside,” said Rubin. “I know that nonprofits have limited funds to beautify their surroundings and wanted to do something to help this organization which is so vital to our community.”
Daniel has begun researching shrubs and flowers that will be attractive as well as deer resistant and easy to maintain He visited Morris County Farms to discuss plants and flowers that are available as well as the pricing for the plants and materials in order to develop a budget for the project. He is awaiting approval from the Boy Scouts’ Board and has begun fundraising for the project. If you would like to make a donation or assist Daniel’s efforts, please email him at Ivys1@verizon.net
