Students Walkout To Protest Gun Violence At Morristown High School

Students from Morristown High School walked out of class on Wednesday, June 1 to protest the government's inaction on gun violence. The protest comes on the heels of the recent massacre at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, in which 19 elementary school students and two teachers were shot to death. Morristown High School students filed out of their classrooms at noon and onto the football field, where they sat for 30 minutes.

$100K Awarded To Morris Co. In Statewide Effort To Reduce Litter

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is strengthening statewide efforts to remove litter, beautify neighborhoods and improve water quality by awarding $21.4 million in Clean Communities grants this year. Commissioner Shawn M. LaTourette announced this week that the total amount given is an approximate $700,000 increase over the disbursement in 2021.

$1.9M Given To Morris County For Affordable Housing Projects

The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is awarding $177 million in grants to New Jersey for Community Planning and Development activities, with Morris County receiving a sizable portion. The county will receive approximately $1.9 million from the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG), according to the announcement.

Morris Co. Man Assaulted 2 Teenagers, Prosecutors Say

A 22-year-old man was charged on Wednesday with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the alleged assault of two teenage victims, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said. The Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll announced the filing of additional charges against Nathaniel G. Yanez, of Dover.
