Tentative Contract Reached For Morris School District Teachers

Six-hour negotiation ends with potential agreement, report says.

It was a long five months, but the wait may soon be over.

The Morris School District Board of Education and Education Association of Morris came to a tentative agreement in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, morristowngreen.com reported.

Once the agreement is ratified by the teacher’s union, the accord will be official and retroactive to July 1, 2014, the first day without a contract for the teachers.

A six-hour meeting between negotiators that ended at 1 a.m. Tuesday brought about the tentative agreement, the report said.

The Morris School District has more than 5,000 students with a 750-member Education Association, the report said.

No details – length of term, salary changes – will be made public until the contract is official.
