Thieves Now Hitting Unlocked Cars in Morris Plains
Incidents reported in Morris Township last week.

Less than a week after in Morris Township comes word that similar incidents are occurring in Morris Plains.
"We had three last night [Monday]," said Detective Jason Kohn of the . "And I think we've had eight over the last week."
Kohn said that, in every instance, the cars had been left unlocked. Some were parked on the street, but others were burgled while in the owners' driveways.

"They're taking whatever they can get their hands on that has any value: chargers, navigation units, loose change," Kohn said.
In Morris Township, according to Capt. Richard Ferrone, there were similar reports of thefts from six parked cars on May 16 and 17. Among the items reported stolen were GPS equipment, credit cards, and a wallet.

Kohn said that while the multiple incidents in Morris Plains are believed to be connected to one another, police have not yet determined if they are linked to the thefts in Morris Township.
"Just lock your car," Kohn reminded residents.
