Nearly All Township Roads Back Open

Township roads were nearly all open by Wednesday afternoon with Department of Public Works crews putting in extra hours to clear storm damage.

"Our Department of Public Works tree crews are scheduled to work till dusk each day this week and Saturday," said Dan Caffrey, sanitation sub-committee representative.

That includes Sussex Avenue, the Morris Township Police said in an advisory issued around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday. But West Hanover Avenue, also a high priority for the township, remained shut down. UPDATE: .

Caffrey reminded residents the crews must work with JCP&L in cases where there are limbs on wires. 

He said the DPW phones remain online after an initial outage and will be open for calls until Friday at 3:30 p.m.

Brush and branches brought down by the storm are being removed by crews. In a press release, Caffrey requested residents to "place all brush and branches along the curb line and away from the leaves.  We will not collect both of them at the same time to keep disposal costs to a minimum.  All brush and branches should be no larger than 4" (inches) in diameter at the cut or broken end.  We cannot accept larger pieces and logs.  It is appreciated if the branches are no longer that 4 feet in length (up to 6' (feet) is acceptable)."
