Whole Foods Pizza Shop Plan in Morristown Withdrawn
Town was supposed to hear testimony Jan. 14; company can resubmit application at later date, report says.

When Whole Foods Market, Inc. opens its newest store on Washington Street in Morristown this spring, it won’t be bringing with it a new pizza shop.
For now.
The national chain withdrew its application from the town to build a pizza shop alongside its forthcoming grocery store, according to morristowngreen.com. The town was scheduled to hear testimony on the issue at its Jan. 14 meeting, but the zoning board said the application was withdrawn, the report said.

That doesn’t mean the issue won’t have time to cook, however. Since the application was withdrawn prior to a decision being made, Whole Foods can resubmit the application at a different time, the report said.
The withdrawal comes a few months after one local restaurant opposed Whole Foods’ proposal. Suvio’s Pizza Ristorante on Washington Street said the set-up of the proposed pizzeria would “change the character of the residential neighborhood” and encourage large crowds in the area.

Whole Foods will fill the former space of an A&P supermarket and is on pace to open its doors this spring.
