Woman Who Died in Morristown House Fire Was Former Business Owner
Teresa Sgaramella lived in the Shady Lane home alone, report says.

The woman who died as a result of a house fire on Shady Lane in Morristown Sunday morning was a longtime resident and former business owner.
According to nj.com, the woman, who lived alone, is identified as Teresa Sgaramella, who formerly owned A&L Men’s Shop on South Street until retiring in 1989.
Sgaramella and her late husband, Emanuele, moved to Morristown from New York City in 1976, the report said. The couple emigrated from Italy in 1954, the report said.

The woman’s identity has not yet been released by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, the law enforcement agency overseeing the incident.
Prosecutor Fredric Knapp announced Sunday afternoon that a woman had died as a result of the fire at 1 Shady Lane, but no cause of the blaze was yet determined.

Sgaramella was the only person inside the home at the time of the fire, which took about 35 minutes to knock down.
One woman from the neighborhood told the Morristown Green that her husband had visited with Sgaramella, whom she described as in her early 80s and living alone, just on Saturday. He wanted to get a recipe for Italian almond cookies.
