Young Talents In 'Art of Play' Make Playing An Art

Patch Whiz Kids of the Week: The members of the band "Art of Play," seventh-graders Domenico Randazzo, Ryan Skoletsky, Tyler Volk and Ricky Webber.

Whiz Kids' Schools:   (Randazzo, Skoletsky, Webber) and Randolph Middle School (Volk).

Whiz Kids' Accomplishments:  The boys write and perform their own music, as well as covers of popular songs. Randazzo, Skoletsky and Ricky Webber are veterans of previous bands, according to Richard Webber, and the latter two were members of a now-disbanded group Boys Night Out, which came in first at a "Showtime at the Apollo" competition and second in the "Morristown’s Got Talent" show at the . 

Whiz Kids' Keys to Awesomeness: According to Richard Webber, all the members of the band have been playing music for years. "They are all advanced musicians—which you can assess when you view their videos," he said. The boys work with their own individual music instructors, then meet twice a week for practice. "They know they've got something going," Webber said. "They just want to keep writing music and playing at local venues."

The band is in the process of recruiting for a bass player and another vocalist. Auditions will be held at Future Starz Studios, 15 Gloria Lane in Fairfield on Feb. 26 from 1 to 5 p.m. To register for the auditions, contact Jean at 973-879-6557, or email jrandmd1@aol.com.
