1776 By David Burke With Topgolf Suite To Open Soon In Morristown

The restaurant and sports and entertainment venue will open in early October. Take a look inside.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Morristown will soon welcome another top chef, and he's bringing a golf suite. 1776 by David Burke featuring Topgolf Swing Suite will open its dining and entertainment venue sometime in early October.

1776 — located on the first floor of the 1776 on the Green office building — combines a simulated golf and entertainment experience with dining. Patrons can also use the simulator for games such as baseball pitching, soccer, zombie dodgeball and the quarterback challenge.

The project was conceived by founder David Vorcheimer, who is joined by his fellow Green Group Morristown managing partners Chance Healy and George Schneider. All three are local residents, as is the entire investment team. The project is a testimony to their belief in Morristown's downtown potential and its leading role for similar ventures in other historic towns that offer walkable business districts.

“Our goal was to create a space for the next generation of dining and entertainment,” Vorcheimer said. “So, we merged one of the country’s most innovative sports and entertainment brands with a top chef."

The layout of the restaurant accommodates 290 guests. The boldly lit, large bar will be a focal point of activity and can be seen from the Green. Glass walls open up to various al fresco dining experiences. There is also an open-showcase kitchen which includes a chef’s table overlooking the nearby historic church.

The Topgolf Swing Suite, which adjoins the 1776 by David Burke restaurant, has six modern living room suites. Each suite has a sectional sofa and high-top seating that can comfortably accommodate eight people. Both the restaurant and suite area have their own food and cocktail menus that Burke created.

Currently, the main dining room’s menu is in its final development phase. But Burke promises his signature items, such as the "clothesline bacon" appetizer — strips of crispy, maple-glazed bacon that hang off a mini clothesline; lobster dumplings; and his patented Pink Himalayan salt-aged steaks. There will also be music — either a DJ or live.

“1776’s innovative venue will make it a landmark in Morristown’s bustling restaurant scene,” said Burke, who has earned several accolades, including a James Beard Foundation award and the 2021 Entrepreneur Of The Year Award by Ernst & Young. "It will be a great addition to the town where I once lived. Our approachable, world-class menu will be second to none with seasonal foods presented with an elevated flare. The vibe will be exciting, happening, full of energy."
