MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ — Morris Township's officers have some updates on how they'll police. The agency will participate in New Jersey's "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign and will also set up speed enforcement details on Raynor Road.
Township police will crack down on impaired driving through New Year's Day. The "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" initiative comprises saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints among participating agencies around the state.
Morris Township received a $6,000 state grant for the initiative. Morris County towns Dover ($6,000), Jefferson and Parsippany ($7,500 each) also received grants.

“Over the five-year period 2014-2018, New Jersey’s roadways experienced 36,049 alcohol-involved crashes, resulting in 648 fatalities," said Police Chief Mark DiCarlo. “This is a critical law enforcement program that can save lives during a time of the year when social gatherings with alcohol increase the risk of impaired driving.”
The police department will also conduct speed enforcement details on Raynor Road. The street has previously undergone renovations, and officials have received complaints of speeding.
