5,300 New Jobs In New Jersey: Here's Where To Look
N.J. has added 5,300 private sector jobs over the past month, and a number of businesses have announced openings and plans to add more.

New Jersey has added 5,300 private sector jobs over the past month. And a number of businesses have announced openings and plans to add more jobs soon.
During the month of April, the ADP Regional Employment Report measured the change in regional and state non-farm private employment each month on a seasonally adjusted basis and determined that New Jersey has added 5,300 jobs, a 17 percent increase over the previous month.
New Jersey actually lost 500 goods-producing jobs but gained 5,800 service-providing jobs, according to the report. The state also lost 600 jobs in natural resources and construction while gaining 100 manufacturing and 2,400 in 100 professional and business services.

Two employers in particular have been at the forefront of hiring people over the past two months, and the casino industry has been active in expanding:
LUPIN: Lupin hired 80 people in April, recently hosted U.S. Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman and Indian Consul General to the United States Riva Ganguly Das at the ribbon-cutting ceremony of its first U.S. manufacturing facility, in Somerset, according to NJBIZ. The company plans to hire 50 more in the coming months.

“This expansion was a tenfold expansion in capacity at the Somerset site and was part of a plan to meet the demand for affordable medicine in the U.S.,” Vinita Gupta, CEO of Lupin, told NJBIZ. “We are as a company are very committed to meet the need; especially today, there is a big need to bring affordable medicines to the U.S. markets for patients, providers, government and other stakeholders.”
HOME DEPOT: The company has hired as many as 1,650 part-time and seasonal workers in New Jersey over the past two months, according to Home Depot. They include customer service and sales, lot associates, freight and receiving, store support and cashier positions, according to a company press release.
The company's Merchandising Execution Team – responsible for setting merchandising displays and ensuring products are customer-ready – also is hiring this spring. Part-time and full-time permanent hourly associates at The Home Depot qualify for profit sharing, tuition assistance, 401k and a discounted stock purchase plan. Plus, all Home Depot associates have access to exclusive deals on cell phones, electronics, gym memberships and more through the company's associate discount site, according to the company.
CASINOS: There are about 830 full- and part-time positions available at Atlantic City casinos — a potential rebound after the industry shed more than 10,000 jobs since 2014, according to The Press of Atlantic City. Indeed, there are approximately 518 full-time jobs available at casinos in Atlantic City, Matthew Levinson, chairman and chief executive officer for the Casino Control Commission, told the newspaper. Caesars Entertainment is hiring for more than 500 positions across all facets of the business at the casinos it owns in Atlantic City, which include Bally’s Atlantic City, Caesars Atlantic City and Harrah’s Resort, Noel Stevenson, a spokesman for Caesars, told the newspapers.
AMAZON: The company plans to hire 2,500 people in New Jersey over the next 16 months as part of a nationwide expansion of 100,000 jobs.
These will be full-time, full-benefit jobs for people with all types of experience, education and skill levels, from engineers and software developers to those seeking entry-level positions and on-the-job training, the company said in a statement. Many of the roles will be in new fulfillment centers that have been announced over the past several months and are under construction in Texas, California, Florida, New Jersey and many other states across the country.
Also, at least one company is moving jobs from one city to the next:
BROADRIDGE FINANCIAL SOLUTIONS: The company has signed a lease to open a Newark office that the company says will bring 1,000 jobs from Jersey City. The financial services firm signed for 160,000 square feet of Class A office space at 2 Gateway Center, according to commercial real estate firm C&K Properties. “We’re excited to welcome one of the most highly respected financial services firms in the world to the blossoming business community at 2 Gateway,” Ben Korman, co-founder and principal of C&K Properties, told NJBIZ. “This lease represents a major milestone not just for our building, but for Newark at large, with the addition of approximately 1,000 high-quality jobs to the market.”
Broadridge, which is based in Lake Success, New York, has offices in Jersey City, Marlton, Mount Laurel, Secaucus and Teaneck. The 2 Gateway Center building is located within walking distance of Newark Penn Station, NJBIZ noted.
