Shirley Whitmore of Benton, Ark. was taken to St. Clare's Hospital in Dover where she was pronounced dead, according to nj.com.
Whitmore was the sole occupant of the motorcycle and was driving north on Canfield Avenue near Randolph when she crossed over to the southbound lane and hit the pole, according to the report.

Police performed CPR until the Mine Hill First Aid Squad and paramedics from St. Clares Hospital were at the scene.
Randolph resident Ruth Hartman said Friday that Whitmore arrived in New Jersey about a week ago for a two-week visit with her sisters and 93-year-old mother, as well as a close-knit group of friends she kept in touch with since their days at Randolph High School, according to The Daily Record.
The group rode together Thursday evening to Chatterbox Restaurant in Sussex County and were back in Morris County before sunset, but then split off in different directions in Mine Hill to ride to their respective homes, according to the report.
The woman had worked as assistant postmaster at the Mendham Post Office but transferred about 20 years ago to a post office in Arkansas, from which she retired. She had lived on a small farm in Arkansas on which she raised donkeys, horses and goats, according to the report.
