97-Year-Old Heart Patient to Star in Second TV Commercial

Walter Ness—age 97—is back and starring in a new commercial. In this update, Walter can be seen kayaking and dancing.

Last May, New Vernon resident Walter Ness made his television debut in a commercial for Atlantic Health System Heart Care.

In October 2015, Ness was rushed from a doctor appointment to Morristown Medical Center, part of Atlantic Health System, and diagnosed with congestive heart failure by cardiologist Dr. Jordan Safirstein.

Months later, Ness received a transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedure— a minimally invasive procedure for patients with severe aortic stenosis who are not candidates for conventional valve repair surgery—from Dr. John Brown, who has been active in developing minimally invasive surgical techniques for adult heart surgery at Atlantic Health System.

A week after the procedure, Ness felt that he had more energy, and was back doing the activities that he loves.

This week, Walter—age 97—is back and starring in a new commercial for Atlantic Health System. In this update, Walter can be seen kayaking, dancing, attending his 78th high school reunion, and more!
