Building Destroyed By Early Morning Fire In Morristown

There were no major injuries, according to reports.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — A fire destroyed an apartment building on Speedwell Avenue in Morristown this morning, according to reports.

The fire at 225 Speedwell Ave broke out around 5:30 a.m., MorristownGreen reported. All five apartments were evacuated; one person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. The ten other residents were uninjured.

The building is uninhabitable, the Daily Record reported. The Red Cross is helping displaced residents find places to stay.

Streets around the home were closed this morning as firefighters worked to knock down the fire. As of 9:15 a.m., Route 202 north remains closed between Sussex Ave and Cory Ave.

The cause is still under investigation.
