The “County DWI Enforcement Grant” is designed to establish checkpoints in cooperation with municipal police departments in the county at various locations throughout Morris County, officials say.

According to figures from the Morris County Prosecutor's Office, there were 523 fatal crashes in New Jersey in which 556 people were killed in 2014, the most recent data available. Of those fatalities, 31 percent of drivers had consumed alcohol to some extent and 12 percent were legally intoxicated.
