Morristown Field Club

Men’s Super Seniors Annual National Tennis Tournament

On May 7th, The Morristown Field Club, one of the oldest tennis clubs in the country, will host the USTA sanctioned National Category II Super Senior Tennis Tournament on their legendary red clay courts.  For the 28th consecutive year, senior tennis players from many parts of the country will descend upon the courts in Morristown in search of that elusive title ‘Champion’.

Last year more than 130 senior male tennis players competed in the ‘first’ tournament of the season in the northeast.  A great many of the participants will be headed north from the Florida Grand Prix circuit and are tournament tough and ready to compete. Men are classified in age categories from 65 to 85.  Many of the players are nationally ranked and seek to earn points toward their 2012 USTA ranking.

Also competing are sectional ranked players, mostly from the Eastern and Middle States sections of the USTA.  These men are looking to improve their ranking and to prepare for the local tournaments that follow in the summer and fall in the Northeast.  Local club players (several from the Morristown Field Club) will also be there to test their skills against the national and sectional ranked ‘best’ players.

Sign up procedure is described at www.supersenior.info.  Registration opened Wednesday, April 16, 2012 and closes Tuesday, May 1, 2011 at 6:00p.m.

Play begins on May 7th and continues daily (10am – 5pm, weather permitting) until May 12th.  It is open to the general public for viewing.  Overflow parking will be available at Loyola Retreat on James Street, directly across from the Morristown Field Club.
