Fairy Tale Forest Reopening Later This Year In North Jersey

Fifteen years after it closed, the fairy tale themed park will welcome a new generation of children.

OAK RIDGE, NJ — In a kingdom far far away exists a place where fairy tales still come true... okay, it's not too far away, and in the coming months, you'll be able to visit once again. After being closed for 15 years, the beloved Fairy Tale Forest in Oak Ridge is planning to reopen to the public this fall.

The Forest first began its comeback when they announced the opening of a new restaurant, Fables, later this summer. Now, the park is planning to totally reopen this fall following renovations, their website says.

Fables will be located in what used to be a gift shop-restaurant combination, North Jersey reported. Chef Christine Nunn told the paper diners can expect casual fare and a juice bar during the day, and slightly higher-scale fare for dinner.

So far, no menu or additional details about the new restaurant and re-opening are listed on their website. A specific opening date has not yet been announced.

Fairy Tale Forest first opened in 1957, and operated until 2003. The theme of the park is European fairy tales, like Cinderella, Hansel & Gretel, and Pinnochio. A self-storage facility continued operating in the space after the park closed.
