Fatal, Fiery Crash In Morris Co. Under Investigation

The vehicle struck a concrete traffic barrier on Route 287, exited the roadway and struck a ditch and a tree, State Police said.

HARDING TOWNSHIP, NJ — State Police continue to investigate a fatal crash and car fire from Thursday on Route 287 in Harding Township. Identification of the driver, who died in the crash, is pending, authorities told Patch.

The accident took place at about 3:15 p.m. Thursday on I-287 southbound at milepost 32.2. Preliminary investigation revealed a Honda traveled south, when it struck the right concrete traffic barrier, said State Police Sgt. Alejandro Goez.

The Honda exited the roadway to the right, struck a ditch and a tree, and became fully engulfed, Goez said. The driver sustained fatal injuries.
